Sobriety, Are You On The Sober Train Too?

This might be a biased post but I think sobriety is a hot thing right now. On social media you’ll see influencers raving about it…saying “it’s the best decision that they’ve ever made” or “I did it because I’m tired of being hungover and/or not remembering last night”. Whatever the reason may be, I think it’s a huge decision… I’m sure these people have thought about it for awhile. It’s also a decision that I think all of us eventually will make, whether you’re trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, have made some questionable decisions while drunk, or you just want to live a healthier lifestyle. I must add obviously not everyone is an alcoholic, you don’t have to be in order to want to be sober. Drinking could just not be for you, it’s honestly something that you don’t have to explain to anyone.

Unfortunately, I been on this rollercoaster multiple times in my life. I’m sober for awhile then a special occasion comes up and then I allow myself to have one drink, which leads to two or three. Quite frankly starting over from day one is the hardest, especially for me. So, to get started… here are things that helped me get back on the sober wagon.

At the beginning of your sobriety journey you can start by winging yourself off of alcohol. You can start with not having alcohol in your house and committing to a dry home. If you usually go out a lot, you can then work yourself up to only going out once a week for drinks, then make it every other week. During these times just make sure it’s no more than two drinks. By this point I’m sure you’ll feel the effects of how better your body feels, how much energy you have, and your brain function will be at it’s peak. Should I mention your wallet will absolutely love you for this.
